Miller Creek Sanitary Sewer Interceptor

Sewer pipe exposed

Miller Cr. Sanitary Collector was constructed in the bottom of Miller Cr. Canyon in 1967. Portions of this 36" sewer pipe were now (2008) exposed, with water running under a short section. Access is very limited across wetlands and along steep unstable slopes. Block nets set, fish removed. Genset and pumps helicoptered in, dams built.

All materials needed were flown in, stone by the bag, wood by the log and root wad:

Substrate material, 300 yards, 1 bucket at a time.
A spyder hoe walked in and went to work:

Results?

Minimal impact to fragile wetlands and sensitive soils.
Good habitat benefits and no sewer spills in the systems future.
